What is included in a MPI Solar Energy Assessment?

Step 1

First we will perform an offsite solar evaluation. You will get a follow up email or phone call from Amie or Dave at MPI.  We like to get as much information from you as possible up front so we can get a good idea of a property’s solar potential. We will use a Google Earth satellite photo for a remote evaluation, so please be sure to include your address.

We will also request some information from you regarding your energy usage, depending upon the solar technology. So, for instance, if you are interested in photovoltaic (PV) panels to produce electricity, we will want to know how much electricity you use each month, for 12 months, in kilowatt hours (KwH).  This will allow us to capture any seasonal variations in use. If you don’t have that on hand, you can request a copy from your utility company.

Step 2

Next we will schedule and onsite solar assessment. An onsite visit takes about 30-45 minutes in which time we will:

  • Discuss your goals for solar, your energy usage, project timetable, etc. this time is so valuable to us because our first priority is not to sell you something, but to listen to your needs and advise you based on your goals and unique situation
  • Based on our discussion, we will take a look at your home or business to find the best placement for solar technology – this is often the roof, but sometimes the roof just isn’t an option for a variety of reasons – ( shading, size, orientation, etc.) and then we look to the yard/surrounding property for a likely spot for a ground mount array. We’ll take pictures using our SolarPathfinder® shading analysis tool, measure the area and plot the easiest path to your utility panel/room to tie the system in to your existing equipment.
  • Once we have all our measurements and photos, and have answered all your questions, it’s back to the lab for the next step.

From all the information we gather from our onsite assessment and discussions with you, we will put together a custom solar design and energy report for you to review. We like to schedule a follow-up meeting to go over the report, as it will contain loads of information, and we can answer any questions you have. From here, we can make any revisions that you request.

There is no charge for this service and you under no obligation to purchase.
